Keyboard Mapping changed while working in VBA

Here is a strange thing:

I was working on an Excel VBA project.
The original file was done by Japanese and so the locale would be Japan.

Since I am not using Japanese but English, I use US English.

Occasionally, the keyboard mapping will automatically change, as follows:
" becomes @
\ becomes the British Pound sign

...and a few other funky stuff.

Question:
Why does this happen?
How can I prevent this?
How can I switch back to US English keyboard mapping other that restarting my PC?

I am using Windows 10, Office 365.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
Not sure how to prevent this but switching back can be done by pressing (and holding down) the Windows key (with windows logo). Now toggle with the space bar to choose desired language / keyboard combination.
