sample trivial data is like this
Excel Workbook

the formla
=SUMPRODUCT((rv=2)*(rr=5))
gives error (I have checked tolls-options-calcualtions-accept labels in formulas. )

Back into an answer in Excel
Use Data, What-If Analysis, Goal Seek to find the correct input cell value to reach a desired result
Did you create the rv and rr ranges ?

After you create the ranges, do you expect the answer to be 1 ?

You should name the range Before
Select your Table, Then Press Ctrl+Shift+F3--> Top Row --> Ok
then test this
<b>Excel 2007</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";background-color: #FFFFFF;border: 1px solid;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><colgroup><col width="25px" style="background-color: #E0E0F0" /><col /><col /></colgroup><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;text-align: center;color: #161120"><th></th><th>A</th><th>B</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">1</td><td style="border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">rv</td><td style="border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">rr</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">2</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">1</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">4</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">3</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">2</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">5</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">4</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">3</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;border-right: 1px solid black;border-bottom: 1px solid black;border-left: 1px solid black;background-color: #FFFFFF;;">6</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">5</td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;border-top: 1px solid black;;"></td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">6</td><td style="text-align: right;;">1</td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td></tr></tbody></table><p style="width:3.6em;font-weight:bold;margin:0;padding:0.2em 0.6em 0.2em 0.5em;border: 1px solid #A6AAB6;border-top:none;text-align: center;background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">Sheet1</p><br /><br /><table width="85%" cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";border: 2px solid black;border-collapse:collapse;padding: 0.4em;background-color: #FFFFFF" ><tr><td style="padding:6px" ><b>Worksheet Formulas</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" width="100%" rules="all" style="border: 1px solid;text-align:center;background-color: #FFFFFF;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120"><th width="10px">Cell</th><th style="text-align:left;padding-left:5px;">Formula</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th width="10px" style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">A6</th><td style="text-align:left">=SUMPRODUCT(<font color="Blue">(<font color="Red">rv=2</font>)*(<font color="Red">rr=5</font>)</font>)</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></table><br /><table width="85%" cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";border: 2px solid black;border-collapse:collapse;padding: 0.4em;background-color: #FFFFFF" ><tr><td style="padding:6px" ><b>Workbook Defined Names</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" width="100%" rules="all" style="border: 1px solid;text-align:center;background-color: #FFFFFF;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120"><th width="10px">Name</th><th style="text-align:left">Refers To</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th width="10px" style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">rr</th><td style="text-align:left">=Sheet1!$B$2:$B$4</td></tr><tr><th width="10px" style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">rv</th><td style="text-align:left">=Sheet1!$A$2:$A$4</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></table><br />

I though without naming the column label will be sufficient. without naming the range =sum(rv) works but not sumproduct.

again the data is

Excel Workbook
A
1rv
21
32
43
Sheet1

do not name the range A2 to A4.
but goto tool-options-calcualtions-under worksheet options check "accept labels in formulas"

now in any empty cell type(even in column A if you leave one cell blank at the end of the data)
=sum(rv). will you not get 6.

ok this does not appear to work in formula sumproduct

see help under "About labels and names in formulas"
