Hi,

I have an Excel file with somewhere around 500 SUMIFS & AVERAGEIFS, some of which are just summarizing the data on the sheet, others pulling from other sheets on the file, and some pulling from external files. Formulas are set to manual, and the two source files/sheets that data is being pulled from are very large (500,000+ rows). I've been working in this file for the past month, and have not had any issues with saving or freezing up on me until the last few weeks, despite not adding any more sheets/formulas...just more data to the source sheets (only a small fraction of what was already in there). When it started acting up, I moved one of the two large source files to an external file hoping it would make things easier, but that hasn't been the case.

Here's a list of what I've changed and/or things I've done that end up freezing the file and causing me to have to force quit:
-Deleting all sheets from the original file except the data source and the Summary page pulling from that data source and the external data source
-Deleting data from the external data source (down to 100MB from 170MB)
-Copying and pasting the SUMIFS, AVERAGEIFS formulas to a few more rows (usually crashes, even if not updating formulas)

Please let me know if you have any ideas on what could be causing this to keep crashing!

Thank you,

Mike

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
what is the file type, xlsb will reduce the bloat some what, how much conditional formatting and prettiness has been introduced to the raw data, how many styles in use, internal history and caching will provide increases. Are you using just the amount of rows required rather than the entire worksheet
