This looks like it should be really easy - but I can't do it.

Say Column A has rows of data (which may be text or numeric). Is there a formula to return the value in the last row of column A(whichever that may be)?

Preferably a formula rather than VBA!

Many thanks!!

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
( 1.) Activate Insert|Name|Define.
( 2.) Enter BigNum as name in the Names in Workbook box.
( 3.) Enter the following in the Refers to box:

9.99999999999999E+307

( 4.) Click OK.

If col A is of numeric type, use:

=LOOKUP(BigNum,A:A)

If col A is of type text, use:

=INDEX(A:A,MATCH(REPT("z",90),A:A))

If col A is of type mixed, use:

=INDEX(A:A,MAX(MATCH(BigNum,A:A),MATCH(REPT("z",90),A:A)))

I've absolutely NO idea where that name range comes from (or how the formulae work with it) but that all worked perfectly.

Thanks v much!!
