need formula for this

if you are late to clock in, you get a 1/3 of an occurance, one you have 3 late clock in you get a full occurance and then it starts over again

sample

5/24/06 1/3
6/25/06 1/3
7/1/06 1/3

you now have a full occurance

8/1/06 1/3

so total now you have 1 1/3 occurance

thanks in advance for any help

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Wouldn't a SUM formula work:
Book1
ABCD
1DateOccurrenceTotal
205/24/061/31 1/3
306/25/061/3
407/01/061/3
508/06/061/3
Sheet1

I'm not quite sure what you mean. I suppose you might be able to adapt SUMIF. Do you need to signify every full occurrence somewhere/how?
