Hello
Please Help me:

i have a sheet that its task to show the latest status of a device, the status is one of these "Active","Ready","Repair".

there are a Master sheet shows all devices in the workbook
And each device has a log in a sheet to show the status of device at specific time like that

for example:

A B
1 Status Date
2 Active 05-11-2011
3 Repair 07-11-2011
4 Ready 08-11-2011

as you notice there is a specific status at a specific date, i need to make a cell that takes the last status of the devices and show it to know what is the Instantaneous Status.
I know that making a variable that is updated each time by Status will solve my problem, but really i don't know how to apply that.

I trust that your website can solve my problem
please help me as soon as possible because i am stuck in this problem

What is the expected outcome?

The Expected outcome is one of these status
-"Active"
-"Ready"
-"Repair"

means that there is a cell must show the last device status depending on these value

for example

A B
1 Status Date
2 Active 05-11-2011
3 Repair 07-11-2011
4 Ready 08-11-2011 <----- This must shown in a cell (Last Status)

Note that Date column is not important to show in the required cell, just the status column

You didn't answer the question...

I'll assume that the dates are in ascending order and there is always a status value associated with a given date. If so:

=LOOKUP(REPT("z",255),A:A)

which would yield Repair for the sample under consideration.

This is the Outcome
For Example:

Repair <- This is the last value

i want a cell shows this Last Value

Did you try...

=LOOKUP(REPT("z",255),A:A)

in a cell of its own outside column A? It should do exactly what you are asking for.
