line chart inserts unwanted dates

Hi, I have a line chart where the x axis is a date. The source values in the corresponding table include date in the first column with the data point value in the second column. There are only dates and corresponding values for the weekday dates. Although no weekend dates are shown in the table, the x axis displays the weekend dates and the line stretches across the weekend dates to connect the Friday's data point to the Monday data point.

I can not figure out how to eliminate these dates so the axis shows the Friday date immediately follwed by the Monday date just as it is in the table.

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
Select the chart, right click and select Chart Options, and on the Axes tab change the Primary Axis button to Category.
