Link cells from two work books

Hi, I have two work Books. Book1& Book 2 - both having same description same data inside. i want to link book2 information to book 1. At the same time every time a change made in book 2 must be reflected in BOOK1. to avoid any modification on Book 1 - i prefer to have the work sheet protected with password, and also would like to keep this book 1 always closed.
Kindly advice how to do this - will the Paste Link effect ? regards //Peer//

If you copy the data and then link via paste special that will give you some options. But you must open the other book to get the data updated. Otherwise what is the point of having a second book?
