Hi Everyone. I'm using Excel 2K7. I have one main sheet that updates links from 14 different workbooks. Each time that I go into the main sheet and view the link status trough the Data-> Edit Links Tab, the status is shown as unknown, then I click on Update Values and then the values are updated. My update status is selected as Automatic. Is there a setting that I can change that my sheets are updated automatically each time the main sheet is opened, or does Excel update the values hourly or daily or do I have to do it manually each time?

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
go to Excel Options
Advanced
General
then check the box next to Ask to Update Automatic Links
press OK

when you open the spreadsheet, you will be asked if you want to update links - answer yes and links are updated

be aware that after doing this if you ask to update links, you will get the response you are now getting even though the links have been updated - Excel must consider this request redundant

hope this helps
