Linkage Issues

Hello everyone
I have a database that for years has been linked to a Mainframe .csv file. Last month the .csv file had two extra fields added to it. My general link did not recognize the additional fields and made a mess of itself as the fields were not synched back up. Why does Access not just ignore the two new fields? and is there a way to refresh the link or "bark" that the # of fields has changed?

Thanks for the help

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
That is how I fixed it. I only support this Db and dont often use it though. So I am trying to stop this error from occuring again.
