I have built a tool for people to use with a macro to export a number of customer facing sheets.
I’d like to password protect the macro but rather than a generic password built into the macro I’d like to link it to the text in a cell.

For instance:
People use the tool
Send it for approval
An approval reference code is given
That approval reference is then the password to unlock the macro

I would like to give other areas of the business the ability to provide a reference code so don’t want it in built into the VBA

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
"That approval reference is then the password to unlock the macro" Not sure how your doing this, I am assuming its a command button. If so it might be easier to just enable the command button if the password matches the the password on the sheet.

Therefore the command button is disabled and will need a password, via a textbox or on a sheet Cell to enable and run the macro. This might guide you. on how to do it. There is a download link on the thread. Mr Excel

Sounds exactly like what I was looking to do. I’ll have a walkthrough tomorrow but fingers crossed you’ve solved it
