Linking a range of cells from one sheet to another and preserving the formatting

Hi

I have linked a range of cells on one worksheet in the same work book to another sheet in the same workbook but I have lost all the formatting. Is there a way to preserve the formatting? I am using Excel 2007 and conditional formatting.
