Linking Cell Fill Format Only

How can I link a cell on one worksheet to another by the colour of fill only - without having any data in the cells.
ie, cell A1 on ws1 - filled with red, corresponding cell in ws2 automatically fills red. If I then change fill colour in ws1, it will automatically change fill colour in ws2?
Any help gratefully received!

Welcome to the Board,

is this purely a colour thing ?

like carpet tiles or something ?

or will you have data (numbers n text) in the cells also, apart from the colourings ?

Yes, it is purely a 'carpet tile' thing.
On ws1, I have the data with conditional formatting applied.
The request is to then have ws2 to show simply the 'carpet tile' effect, ie no data.
The only way I can work it is to conditionally format the cell fill AND text colour exactly the same, ie giving the appearence of a 'carpet tile'.
Just thought there must be some way of linking a cell to show fill colour only with nothing else.... I guess not?

there'll be some VBA cosing solutions to follow, I'm sure of it...

but you can always use the camera....

this will take a snapshot of WS1 and plonk it on WS2, it updates in realtime and if you're never going to have to input data into the range, it's effectively a linked formatting :

view
toolbars
customise
commands
tools.......... scrolldown the options

click the camera icon and drag it to your toolbar, you should now have a camera sitting on your toolbar

now highlight your cells in question and click the camera, this will take a snapshot of those cells

now go to where you want to show them as an image, click and drag to max size

if you don't like the format (opaque-ness, lines etc etc) right-click the new image and play around with the formats

Thank You, much appreciated however I am not sure it is what I am after...
The data and hence the formatting will change regularly in ws1, I therefore need the colour fill in the cells on ws2 to change accordingly....
(I know, it's a crazy requirement....!)

try it and see... like I said, it changes in realtime, so if you have a bolded, red cell in WS1, it will show on WS2 : change it to green and WS2 will change to green....

or did you mean that your WS2 cells are all in different order to WS1... ie there's not a direct 1 to 1 relationship pattern ?

Thank You!
It works like a dream....
I've never used this as a function before, can think of loads of things this will come in useful for....Thanks.
