I am trying to link data from one workbook into another and get it to work but it puts in sample data or dates which I dont want. How can I set it up were the cells are blank until data is input in the main sheet and then linked to the destination sheet??

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
There is a couple of ways for instance
=IF('C:\Temp\[Libro2.xlsx]Hoja1'!$B$3<>"";'C:\Temp\[Libro2.xlsx]Hoja1'!$B$3;"")
All depends on what you want to achive

I am trying to set up a database type sheet with a master sheet then separate workbooks for marketing reps. I want to have the call date call back date and the comments section copy from the reps sheet to the master and I have it linked but it puts sample data like 0's or a weird date which I dont want. I want those cells blank until its added to the reps sheet then linked to the master. Can I do it with the example you just gave me?

yes it shows "" that is to say null that is to say nothing when the source is no filled yet
you can do what you want in 100s different ways
some ppl like to use reference
some like to use copy and paste
some use Microsoft query
What I recommended is because I guessed you wanted to use reference
