Linking Cells

In FileA cells A1:D4 are merged for the purpose of typing a text description of a part.

In FileB, in Cell A1, I would to link the information from FileA cells A1:D4. However, when I try to link I receive a #VALUE! error.

Is this because one of the cells is merged with multiple cells and the other is not? If so, is there any way around this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

You should be okay. You must reference the top left cell of the merged area.

edit You're getting a #VALUE! error, not a #REF! error. You problem is trying to use text as a number or something along those lines. /edit

Yes, the problem was linking the RANGE, and not the single upper left cell. Worked great, thanks.
