Is there a way to have Power Point linked directly to Excel? For example, when data is entered in Excel that it would automatically update the related charts in Power Point? I know that the charts can be set up in Excel and then copied/pasted into Power Point, but curious if this could be done.

Thanks for your help!

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
click on File-Paste Special-Paste link when you are in Powerpoint.
caution and an FYI; if your graph gets too complex (large), your readers may not be able to open it. In that case, instead of paste link, do a copy and a paste picture.
this will paste only the the graph itself and not all the happy formulas, links, etc that take up a lot of space

have a good day----------

Hi cyoose,

In order to have a worksheet (range of cells) that you paste into PowerPoint be linked you must do a Edit > Paste Special and select As: Microsoft Worksheet Object, and select the Paste Link option button. Then when you edit the worksheet the change will immediately appear in PowerPoint.

It is also possible to write data to PowerPoint from Excel via VBA macro, and this permits writing data, for example, directly into a PowerPoint textbox, table, or even into properties such as slide timings, etc. This is done via Automation.
