Linking text cells between workbooks

I'm trying to link a text (not formula/numbers) cell from a workbook sheet to another workbook sheet. I know how to do it for the numbers and equations; but text is .....

I've tried concatenate and changed the format of the cell to text.

Obviously it's a simple process but I'm somewhat brain dead on this. Your help is appreciated.

Please explain what the text represents, such as a number formatted as text.

Also, how are you trying to link the two workbooks?

Do you want to lookup the text from one workbook and send data over to the other workbook based on a match?

If you are only concatenating, show an example of what your formula looks like now.

The text is just words; a text field in C69 of workbook "A".

Eventually there will four separate workbooks whereby the text fields (C69, C71, etc,) from each workbook will (hopefully) be linked to one workbook for analysis.

As I wrote, the numbered cells are linking OK with SUM, as in:
=SUM('[LLCAS3.0PCR-B_bb.xls]llcas3.opcr-b_aa'!$B$53)

I tried a string with concatenate but nothing happened. Obviously I'm entering the thing wrong.

Hmmm...I guess I am still having a hard time following what you are trying to do.

If you are simply trying to take the text from C69 from one workbook and have it appear in the other, couldn't you just open both workbooks, click on the cell that you want to populate with C69 from the other workbook, enter = then click on the C69 from the other workbook?
