Linking to PowerPoint: Named Range Mystery

Hi

Thanks in advance for the help with this. It's driving me crazy.

I'm having a problem linking my named ranges in an Excel worksheet to PowerPoint.

I select the named range in Excel
Copy it
Switch to PowerPoint
Double-click into a Chart
Click Edit > Paste Link > Ok.

This is when the problem occurs, as no data appears in the datasheet of my chart.

While the chart is still open, if I choose
Edit > Links > Change Source,
I can see that the link pasted across is not !test (the name of my named range), it's !Sheet1!R1C1:R4C5Test i.e. it has pasted the absolute cell references and the name of the named range after it. This is causing the problem.

A similar problem occurs when I try to link some cells in the Excel sheet to a textbox in PowerPoint. The name of the named range does not come up; just the absolute cell reference !Sheet1!R1C1:R4C5

This is driving me up the wall and threatens to ruin a couple of days of work that I've done.

If anyone can help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Hello and welcome to The Board.
Have you tried Edit | Paste Special and then selecting 'Paste Link' and also "Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object"?
That seems to work for me (I am using Office 2007).

Change the name of the sheet to something that has space in between. Example : Sheet named "Carline" could be renamed as "Carline Main". After this when you paste the named range in powerpoint then the reference will be the named range instead of R1C1 formula
