Linking Workbooks That Update Without Opening Data Source

Hi,

I know this has probably been posted before but please bare with me.

I am trying to link to workbooks. When I have both workbooks open it works great. If I only have the one workbook open it shows values of 0.

Is it possible to link the workbooks so that that information stays once the data source has been closed.

Also is it possible for the data to be updated automatically without opening the data source.
