in excel 2007 links from one workbook to another wont auto pull values through - i have to manually re point every link each time i open the workbook.

why wont the **** thing just remeber where the source is like it used to?!

it holds the links whilst the source remains unchanged but if the source changes i have to repoint all the links manually even though the workbook and sheet names are the same!

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Does it help to do a global search and replace, searching for = and replacing it with = ?

nope, it just brings up the dialogue box asking to navigate to the source sheet for every single cell.

here is the set-up -

a1 links to **1.xls
a2 links to **2.xls
a3 links to **3.xls

and so on, each time returning one value from one cell, when you save and close the workbook with the links in, on reopening you have to redefine every single cell whoch looks up from another workbook.

is there a workaround??

What formula is in the cells?

='T:\Performance\Year 2014-2015\Daily files to update - Files feed daily report\Capacity\1507\[Capacity Calculator 220814.xls]HLOS Mon - Fri'!$AF$28

each time the cell moves down 1 the date in the above changes to the next day which equates to a new workbook (workbooks are identical but just for different days)
