Is it possible to Index a range from a sheet NOT on the workbook, you are to use the drop down list on ??

Yes, if you use named ranges.

Define a named range to refer to '[other workbook.xls]sheet name'!range

and use that named range as the source for your data validation list.

Thanks for your reply, when I try this it says it cannot use references to other worksheets or workbooks for Data Validation Criteria ??
