locating a space in a string and inserting a character

How do I locate a gap within a string and insert another character. So I need to find the gap in between personnel first and last names and insert a period. See below for example. Thank you.


Example:

John Doe
john.doe@email.com

 

[Fluff]

Maybe

=SUBSTITUTE(A2," ",".")

or if you only want to replace the 1st space then use

=SUBSTITUTE(A2," ",".",1)
