Just before leaving work last night I was asked about a very annoying problem one of our Directors was having but had to leave after a few minutes and was going to look this morning. It was an extremely simple formula deducting one cell with a value in it from another cell with a formula totalling the cells above it, eg
cell A10 the total of A1:A9 = 100
cell A12 = 50
cell A14 (A10-A12) = Should have been 50 but was 0
When I used paste special on cell A12 it came out as 100 even although it was a simple value and the format was correct. The workbook didn't have a password so the Locked cells shouldn't have mattered (should they?). I was going to look at it this morning but it had been solved last night by selecting all cells and unlocking them.
In case this happens again (and so that I can say what the Director did wrong ) does anybody know why this would happen?
