I am trying to make my system look less like Excel and in doing so want to change the error message which excel shows when the user trys to change a locked cell. I would either like to create a new error message or have no error box at all, is this possible ?

IE: I have users pasting information into the sheet, but if they goof by copying too much and pasting into the worksheet, they get the error message of "The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only". I want a MsgBox to pop-up telling them to recopy the information correctly.

I've never seen a way to get around it. As far as I know it's a not-trappable application-generated message. There might be some API tricks, but I've never seen it.

Thank you for the reply. Thought I might ask. I am sure I could use some other program and import the excel files, but then I'd have to start over .
