Hello,

Could someone please help me with locking a column. I have several columns e.g C11, c11a, c11b, c11c etc. The total of column c11a, c11b and c11c should appear in c11. I have formula under c11 cell to do this but i want to lock this so that my formula cannot be overwritten. I can't protect the sheet because i require input from the user in some cells. I don't want to hide the column either.

Does anyone have any ideas to get around this?

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Select the cells that you want available for user input (you can select multiple non-contiguous cells with CTRL+Left Click), then goto Format-->Cells-->Protection-->Uncheck Locked, then Protect the worksheet.

Now only those cells can be changed.

Hope that helps,

Smitty
