I recently created a survey in excel which I distributed to 50 recipients. One of the recipients is having trouble opening the file. I’d be grateful for any ideas on how to solve the problem. Here’s a brief summary of the excel spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet was created in Excel 2002 (the recipient has Excel 2000). We both have Windows XP. When the spreadsheet opens, the user should be prompted to enable macros. The spreadsheet has 7 spreadsheets of which two are hidden. A macro, upon opening, protects all spreadsheets with a password. The survey contains both unlocked cells to enter data and yes/no checkboxes. This enables the user to tab/enter their way through the series of worksheets. VBA for the spreadsheet is also password protected.
The recipient does not get an option to enable macros. She’s tried both medium and low security settings. Rather she gets prompted for a password. Without the password she can not enter any information or check any boxes. To date, no other recipient has reported a problem.
My only thought is that a virus protection program may be blocking/overriding excel security. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
SW
