I need some help in trying to get some information from a large spreadsheet.

I hacve 4 sets of columns that are boken up into percetage category, percentage category, etc.

I need to be able to determine the average for the percentage based on category. So for example, the two categories are "phones" and "emails"

I need an end result of all the averages for "phones" and overall average for "emails".

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Carlos

Try something like:

=AVERAGE(IF(B1:D2="Phones",A1:C2))

which is an array formula and must be confirmed with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER (doing so correctly will result in Excel putting {}'s around your formula in the formula bar)
