hopefully i can explain this simply. i have a table with 2 colums, column A has a list of names, column B has a number. lets say the number in column b is a plug number like sales. i highlight or color the cell of the top sales guy. at the bottom of the table/sheet i want to put in a formula that will search column B for the highlighted cell and return the name in column A down below. hope that made sense, thanks for any help.

There may be addins that allow you to search a spreadsheet this way, but as far as I know, there are no native functions that will 'search out' a shaded cell this way.

Having said that, I've been proven wrong before...

Your solution will also depend on how the cell(s) are being highlighted or colored.
(ie, manually?, or with Conditional Formatting?)

If you're colouring the cells yourself, it might be easier to have a separate column in which you can insert some sort of flag character or word.
