Lookup string on two sheets

I'm sure this is simple....I hope
I have two excel sheets the first sheet has a inventory list on it with serial and part number....The second sheet is a list of serials I scanned for inventory....What formula could I write so that it would look for the serial from the second sheet see if it is on the first sheet and mark a cell in the first sheet to show it was found

Hello Bucket28,
Assuming your serial numbers were in column A of sheet1 and column B of sheet2
you could use this formula in (say C1) of sheet1
Code:
=IF(COUNTIF(Sheet2!B:B,A1)>0,"Found","")
and then copy/paste this down column C as far as your serial numbers go.
