losing cell formatting when saving as .htm

Greetings,

We use excel to publish a daily status message of issues that our group is monitoring. Merged cells A1->J1 are set to Arial Black, 24 pts and Center/Center. Yet, when I open it again after someone else has used the file, it has reverted back to Arial, 10PT with an alignment of General and Bottom.

What makes this even more intriging is that the Merged cell range, A2-> J2 is set to Arial Black, 24 pts and Center/Center and it KEEPS it cell formatting.

Any suggestions on how to correct this?

I have thought of writing a macro to reformat the cell upon opening but......

Thanks, Dan

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Thanks, we just tried that and when someone else opened it, it reverted to the old way.

Any other suggestions or is more info needed?

In case this is important, this is a worksheet that others will enter info into on disparate computers.

And, to make matters even more interesting, I just added a blank row above the offending line, changed the line to the correct format, saved, had my co-worker open and close, and then I reopened the wks and lo and behold, the formatting stuck. Is this an undocumented Excel feature?

Thanks, Dan
