Macro Recorder

I used the macro recorder to record a macro and saved the macro to my 'Personal.xls.' Now, when I open a saved Excel file, the saved file opens and then a blank 'Persoanl.xls' also opens and it's kind of annoying because I don't need the 'Personal.xls' open. I have tried deleting the macro in my 'Personal.xls,' but a blank 'Personal.xls' still opens when I open a saved Excel file. Is there a way to prevent 'Personal.xls' from automatically opening whenever I open up a separate saved Excel file?
