Hi,

i need a help from the Mrexcels, this is my scenario.

i have 3 different columns

Newyork-NY Cola-Coke Reg-5555
London-UK Cool- Pepsi Num-8787


i need to apply delimit text to column for all data in the 3 columns and provide the result in New sheet.Not sure how to write macro for this.Can some one light ur ideas on this.Thanks!!

Welcome to the Board!

I think all you need to do is insert a blank column after each one of your three columns.
Then apply Text-to-Columns on each column, selecting the dash as your delimiter.

If you turn on the Macro Recorder while you perform these steps, it will give you the VBA code needed to create a macro to automate the process.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for ur reply.The data in the each Column may vary, some data will be like "XXX-A-1056".In this case, we cant add up 2 column as fixed , for this case i have added 'temporay sheet and the i have copied result to the another sheet.But the problem i have is, i cant loop this function one by one.And more ever i need to provide the header to all these columns.

I think you may need to do a better job of laying out all your data possibilities and how you want them handled.

That may be accomplished best by posting a small, representative sample of your data using one of these tools listed here (http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=508133).

Then post another image of how it should look when complete.

My original suggestion will still work. You just need to add a few more extra columns to account for these extra fields.

If you insert two blank columns after your Customer column, and do a Text-to-Columns on the Customer column using the dash as a delimiter, it will take care of that.

Likewise, insert two blank columns after the Product column and do a Text-to-Columns on the Customer column using the dash as a delimiter.

If you do both of those things, you will end up with the data grid you have posted.

Joe, if i am sure how many breaks needed in all columns then your point ll workout....but the real data also look like, "AA-IUYIU-KHJ-98789-NBN"...some data is more than this.i m trying to automate only bcs of this, if not i ll do it manually.

The below query help in bringing my requirement, but i cant loop here and cant apply text to column for the data in the second column.Help me out in looping this.Thanks!!

There are a lot of different places you can find information about looping. The only resource I really used to learn this was "Beginning Access 2000 VBA" by Wrox Press Ltd. some years ago. But I bet if you Google "microsoft access vba loops" or even "microsoft access vba loops e-book", you may find a bunch more possibilities.
