I have a BIG problem....i have created a spreadsheet which contains about 40 sheets which each contains about 30 checkboxes which interlink to produce a form.

When I open it the PC returns the error of 'Out of Virtual Memory'....

Apparently after speaking to my Tech friends the macros seems to be using 200MB....can someone explain how this can happen and if I can solve the problem without reducing the number of macros and VBA

Hi broadpipe,

If you are using ActiveX checkboxes (i.e., checkboxes from the Controls toolbar) I suggest you replace them with Forms checkboxes. Forms checkboxes require less than a third of the memory of the ActiveX checkboxes.

If you are already using Forms checkboxes and running into this problem I would suggest you switch to using cells as "pseudo checkboxes". Cells can be made to operate and look very much like a checkbox control, and my guess is that the memory requirements for this would even be a fraction of the Forms checkbox requirements. If you would like an example of this you can post or send me a private message with your email address.
