Maintaining links with closed Workbook

I think this is the correct protocol (open a new post for a follow question)? - if not, apologies!

I have implemented the solution to my original post as proffered by @JamesCanale Looping an XLOOKUP routine …

But my lists are in separate WBs and when the source WB is closed, the links in the target WB fail - this is a problem because my code explicitly does a SaveAs so that the out put file can be analysed/manipulated further without affecting the target WB itself …

This relates to maintainin links with closed files, but no matter how hard I look, I can’t find a workaround …

Does anyone know of a workaround - or is it simply not possible?
