Hi

My boss has asked for a spreadsheet that has a lot of big $ figures in it. In order to make my sheet look less busy I am wanting to change the format of the dollar figures from $1,250,000.00 to $1.25mil.

Is it possible? I have looked thru the board (and the excel help) and the only way is more formulas to reduce the dollar figure and then merge it with another cell. surely it has to be easier?

Excel Facts

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Formatting a cell with $1,250,000.00 in the following custom format should yield the desired result: =$ 0.00,, "mil"
or if you like, without the space preceding "mil",
=$ 0.00,,"mil"
Hope this is what you wanted?
Larry.
