Match if number between two ranges and return lower value

As the title states, I am looking for a formula that compares a number against a list of numbers. ANd if the number fall between two numbers, it will return the lower value. For example

Number: 25

List:
5
7
8
19
22
29
34

Result: 22

I have tried to use the median function, but no solution. ANy formula or macro would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming your list is in A1:A7 and your search number is in B1:

=INDEX(A1:A7,MATCH(B1,A1:A7,1))
