I have a problem, I am trying to figure out and keep hitting a brick wall. I can use some help. I am fairly new to Access and am using version 2007.

I have a table. Several of the fields are MEMO fields as there will be more than 255 characters typed in. I am using a form to populate the table (through a query). I was filling out the 8th record today and the first memo field had 350+ characters in it. As soon as I tab to the next record, the field is limited to 255 characters (the rest of the entry disappears). Here are the field properties I have set up in the table for this particular field:

Table Properties for the field in question:
Field Name: PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Field Type: Memo
Format: >@
Caption:
Default Value:
Validation Rule:
Validation Text:
Required: No
Allow Zero Length: Yes
Indexed: No
Unicode Compression: No
IME Mode: No Control
IME Sentence Mode: Plural Clause
Smart Tags:
Text Format: Plain Text
Text Align: General

A few of the form properties for the field in question:
FORM:
Name: PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Control Source: PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Format: >@
Decimal Places: Auto
Visible: Yes
Text Format: Plain Text
Show Date Picker: For dates
Width 5.5313"
Height: 1"
Top: 3.7708"
Left: 2.0313"
Can Grow: No
Can Shrink: No
Display When: Always
Reading Order: Context:
Scroll Bar Align: System
Numeral Shapes: System
Keyboard Language: System
Enter Key Behavior: New Line in Field

I have not tried any of the other memo fields yet, but all settings are the same.

Any help is appreciated!

Excel Facts

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
I don't understand why it would truncate my entries when my form was bound to the table.
Actually, it may make sense in that a "table" in Access is really only a query in itself (albeit a special system type one). You aren't really seeing the "table" itself, but a "view" of it. So, when you do a regular query it may have abilities that the hidden system ones do not.

The weird thing is my form is bound to a query and I had the problem. However, removing "all" formatting marks from the table, query and form worked. What i don't like is that now people can type whatever they want in any format they want. It makes the reports look terrible, but what can you do? I will continue to work on this as time goes on, but for now at least nothing is being truncated. Thanks for the help on getting the problem solved at least this far (the database IS working!)

This happened to me too, and removing the "@" from the format tab, format property fixed it. (Note, not the data tab, text format property)

Holy crap!!!! Thank you everyone in this thread!

Apparently, Access 2010 defaults all textboxes to the format "mm/dd/yyyy". The only other options in the dropdown menu are other number formatting options. Deleting the default and leaving it blank made all my problems go away! Literally spent all day on this. Thank you again.
