Hi i have a file that has the "merge" formatting greyed out.

This is messing up the formatting of the size of my rows. The size when i double click to auto - format is bigger than needed. i want my rows to be just right for each row.

From this description, does anyone know how to fix this problem.

if you need more info let me know. Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
Is the workbook marked as shared or protected?
Have you tried center across selection under format>cells>alignments?

the center across sections does not change anything BUT

this is a "shared" workbook. what does this mean in terms of why the merge is greyed out ?

Sorry I have I got tied up on something.
you can not use merge on either shared or protected(usally)
but if you select the cells you want to center across you get the same effect without any of the negatives(like auto adjusting column withs & paste values of merged cells)
