Mid Formula Question

Is there a way to display the word in the middle of this example using the mid formula?

1234-word-123
12-wordtwo-12

The word length and number length may vary. This is what I have so far...
=mid(A1,find("-",A1)+1,XXX)
I do not know what to put in place of "XXX"
Any ideas?

How about if you want to pick the numbers at the end of the cell after the dash?
