Missing Sheet Tabs

In an Excel file that had the view sheet tabs box checked, but the tabs were not visible, I inserted the Microsoft Office Disk, clicked Help, "Detect and Repair"; and the next thing I knew, the tabs became viewable again! PS. Yesterday I spent hours trying to solve this problem, to no avail!
