Hi - I hope someone can help me. I have a report that I download from another application. But the data in 3 columns C, D, E, I need to be in column A - is there a macro that could do this?

Note: there are over 100 rows that has data in columns C to E that needs to move to column A

Thanks for you help.

ROSEI,

I can not tell what rows and columns your data is in.

What version of Excel are you using?

You will generally get much more help (and faster) in this forum if you can post your small samples (what you have and what you expect to achieve) directly in the forum.

To attach screenshots, see below in my Signature block: Post a screen shot with one of these:

If you are not able to give us screenshots, see below in my Signature block: You can upload your workbook to Box Net

If you can not give us screenshots, or a sample workbook (per above) at Box.Net, then:

Click on the Post Reply button, and just type in the word BUMP, and then click on the Submit Reply button, and someone else will try to assist you.

Hi,

Without seeing your data it is quite difficult. Non macro soultion would be to highlight your top row, control and down until you highlight of all the data that needs to be moved, press F5, hit Special, then tick Blanks then OK. Right click on cell then Delete, move cells left.

This will delete all of the blank cells in your range and align rest of data in column A.

hi ROSEI

If you run this macro (on a copy of your original data), does it do something like what you want?
Code:
Sub movedata()
Dim e, k
For Each e In [c1].CurrentRegion.Resize(, 3)
If Not e = "" Then k = k + 1: Cells(k, "a") = e
Next e
End Sub

Unfortunately, the macro didn't work and the non-macro option didn't move all the columns as it's not only blank columns that need to be moved.

I've uploaded the file information to Boxnet - link below, which will hopefully make it easier for you to see:

http://www.box.net/shared/fo622hylc8

I'm using Excel 2010.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi ROSEI,

The macro didn't work because the data you specified in your opening post isn't the same as the data you have in your download file.

Writing macros on the basis of guesswork as to what is really wanted isn't really a very fruitful exercise ...
