MS Excel - Enable Iterative Calculation

I have a workbook template where I have one (1) instance of a circular reference that I WANT. I have selected Maximum iterations=1. The cirucular reference is used for a timestamp of a signature. However when the workbook is saved and reopened I have to once again check this off and then the time entered does NOT reflect the original time. Here is the circular formula I am using, =IF(G17<>"",IF(K17="",NOW(),K17),"").
I went into Options, formula, and enabled Iterative calculations to "1". So can someone tell me why this is not being saved properly???

Thank you again for your help in this matter...

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
I think I am a "dumbass" I have four (4) instances and only checked off "1". Will see if this works tomorrow. Fingers crossed :)

NOPE that didn't work! So when you save the template "Save As" it somehow removes "ENABLE ITERATIVE CALCULATION". See first post above.
PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you,
