Does anyone know how to set XL so that in a workgroup, multiple users can modify an excel file at the same time?

any help will be greatly appreciated!!

not highly recommended.

I have to second this. I use shared workbooks in a limited number of occasions - and have trouble with them without fail...

If it MUST be shared then go ahead - but if there is ANY other solution - use it.

we've actually banned 'shared' workbooks from the office as a result of file corruption and lockouts and other random errors that cause more work than had we not employed the use of a shared file.

I have one key shared file that was written by my predecessor and I have modified to kind of work.

I plan to replace it next week with DAP directly off my Access database instead..

For an opposing viewpoint: I have been using shared workbooks at work pretty much every day for many years with virtually no adverse consequences.
