I am trying to add a macro to my personal.xls but after doing a search noted that i couldnt find the personal.xls anywhere.

How can i determine my default file used for new workbooks on my computer?

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
hey qroozn

have you tried searching for 'personal.xlt' instead of 'personal.xls'?

ps. long time no see. commuting between sydney and brisbane now, i see . must be racking up those frequent flyer points!

no good.

I found excel.xls in winnt/shellnew and common.xls in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeLibrary!

Could one of these be it!

i dunno - i think excel.xls might be a demo file for the tutorial?
are you on a network? they may have the default on another drive.
you might want to check the help files too - there is a way to change default settings by creating another template in the xlstart folder. today's cheerful thought - your friendly neighbourhood network administrators may have disabled this facility if the default template is remote though.
cheers
