I discovered some very strange and annoying behavior with Excel's vertical text alignment. The problem appears only for some fonts and only when cells contain non-English characters. If you come across the right combination of font and cell content the vertical text alignment will fail, regardless of font size, row height and vertical alignment setting. I suspect this is caused by some error in the particular font. But it would be great if somebody could enlighten me. The following fonts all appear to be affected by the phenomenon: Aldhabi, Gabriola and Lato.
