If it's an #N/A error response, you address it as an error. For instance, if the formula in cell A1 resulted in a #N/A error, then this formula could be used to test it for for a true/false state:

=ISERROR(A1)
...or
=IF(ISERROR(A1),DoThisIfTrue,DoThisIfFalse)
