If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.

Assuming the original value is in A1, put this formula in B1:

=MID(A1,SEARCH(" ",A1)+1,LEN(A1))&", "&LEFT(A1,SEARCH(" ",A1)-1)

but this might not include if there are any name prefixes.

Like this:

=RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-FIND(" ",A1))&", "&LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)

where A1 contains the original text.

Andrew... is it better to use Search or Find? Do you have a preference?

FIND is case sensitive while SEARCH is not
