Name Manager issues

Hi All.

New to Name Manager and having issues with some workbooks I inherited.

1. I have a workbook with no links or connections however, it lists 20 (!) items in the Name Manger that refer to different workbooks. This particular workbook does not need any links or connections. Is it safe to delete the names in the Name Manager or will it affect the original workbooks?

2. In a different workbook, it has more than 20 names in the Name Manager but this workbook uses some of the named ranges. The problem here is that there are identical names but they refer to different sources. How do I determine which ones are correct so I can delete the extras?
Example: Historicals_2014 refers to File A with Scope to a particular worksheet and Historicals_2014 refers to a worksheet inside the current workbook with a scope of workbook.

Thank you!!

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
Hi GenieR

You should leave everything as is, for a while at least, just be patient, just in case.

I'd make a backup, delete them a few at a time, and make sure everything still functions.
