Named Range for Pivot Group Start and End Dates

Good day all.

I would like to use a named range for a Pivot Chart Start and End Date. This doesn't seem possible right up front. Maybe using VB?

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Maybe I don't understand how those fields work in conjunction with the source data. If i set the start date to anything prior to the first data entry the start date will automatically reset back to the date of the first entry.
