Looking for a book or website that is good for making spreadsheets look better

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
www.MrExcel.com is a good place to start.

Other than that, what specifically are you looking for?

Tips and Tricks on efficient ss design? Functionality & good looks?

What type of applications (Finance/Marketing/Sales, etc)?

You could start with Microsoft's Excel Tips.

A Google search for "Excel Tips & Tricks" will turn up a lot as well.

I have a collection of Excel books that have helped me out tremendously.

I love the Excel books by John Walkenbach. He's got one on formulas, VBA, and Charts respectively.

I've got Mr. Excel's VBA and Macros for Microsoft Excel... very helpful book.

Just yesterday, I've purchased the Dashboard Reporting Toolkit advertised at the top of this site. I fell in love with it right away and will soon try to design a few of these reports for my work. They will definitely "make spreadsheets look good"!

As for websites, this is my #1 site to come for help. The good way to get other good websites is to look through the "Helpful Links" section of any good web site that you come across.

One book I find to be quite useful is:

Excel Best Practice For Business, Loren Abdulezer, Wiley

It focuses pretty much on how to design spreadsheets and present/arrange the data therein in meaningful ways for business rather than simply on how to create kick-*** formulas/VBA code.

Best regards

Richard
